Yes, our third annual Winter Carnival at Pushman Park is this Monday – Family Day!
Tell your neighbours and bring your friends on Monday, February 18, from 11am to 3pm. We’ll have hockey skills competitions, games and activities in the snow, horse-pulled sleigh rides, a chili cook-off, bonfire singalong, hot chocolate and coffee, and lots more!
We’re also pleased to have our friends at the Dunlop Parent Council and the 36th Ottawa Sparks on hand to sell homemade treats and Girl Guide cookies throughout the day. Bring a few extra loonies and toonies to score some delicious goodies and support causes at work right here in South Keys Greenboro.
Admission to the Winter Carnival is $5 for kids aged four and up. Your five dollars covers unlimited participation in all of the games and activities we have planned for the day. Adults and little ones three and under are free! All proceeds will go to benefit the South Keys Greenboro Community Association and its programs.
Our popular springtime soccer league for kids aged four through ten returns this spring!
As always, kids aged four through seven will play at Pushman Park, while the eight through ten year olds will play on the Greenboro Park pitch (behind the Community Centre). Registration nights will be held on March 4, 6 and 18. See our soccer program page for full details.
It is with immense disappointment that your Community Association announces that it is cancelling this year’s Fall Festival at Pushman Park, which was scheduled to take place tomorrow.
The weather forecast is simply too wet for us to proceed. Many of our vendors and suppliers are unable to operate in the rain, and it is likely that many of you who wished to participate would not be able to bring your little ones out on the sort of cool and damp day that Saturday promises to be.
Many of you have asked about a rain date. We have a limited number of volunteers from our community at our disposal and a finite budget with which to work, which makes alternate planning difficult. We always consider whether we can promise a rain date or otherwise postpone our events, but scheduling our full slate of activities (and all of the companies and people who go along with them) requires that we commit to some firm dates. The volunteers who generously offer their time and energy typically cannot simply show up another day, and without them our events do not happen.
Our board of directors will convene in the next week or two to brainstorm on an alternate activity that we might be able to deliver between now and the busy holiday season. If you have a suggestion for the sort of event you’d like to see in South Keys Greenboro this fall, please contact us. More importantly, if you can volunteer your time to help us put the pieces together, please submit your contact information via our volunteer page.
We wish to thank everyone who helped us get the word out about our Fall Festival, and all of the volunteers who were standing by to lend a hand. We owe a particular debt of gratitude to our event coordinator, Gwen, whose tireless work over the past couple months have propelled this event forward and made it everything it could have been.
Please help us spread the word that this event has been cancelled – if your friends or neighbours have mentioned it to you, please be sure to tell them about this news.
Thank you to everyone who had planned to come to our Fall Festival! It will return in September 2013.
We’re pleased to announce the return of our Fall Festival! It’ll take place this year at Pushman Park on Saturday, September 22, from 11am to 3pm.
Our Fall Festival in 2011 was a huge success, so we’ve tried to make it even bigger and better this time around, with all of the attractions the kids loved last year, and a few new things added to the mix. We’ll have the Merry Dairy serving up frozen custard treats, our yoga instructor will lead a group demonstration in the great outdoors, and our toy swap will give your kid the chance to trade something old for a “new” treasure to take home. All of this is in addition to our popular petting zoo and pony rides, bouncy castles, interactive games, face painting and hair spray station, family photo booth, and so much more.
Click here to read more about our Fall Festival, and be sure to RSVP to our Facebook event so that we’ll know how many people to expect. Thanks – we can’t wait to see you there!
It was another hot one at Pushman Park on Friday night, but the warm weather couldn’t keep theatre fans in South Keys Greenboro from offering a warm welcome to a Company of Fools, returning after a successful first show in our neighbourhood last summer.
If you were in the crowd last night, thank you for attending! If you missed out, be sure to take a look at the list of upcoming performances by the Fools, who will continue to present “Henry V” six nights per week throughout the summer.
We snapped a few photos of the show – check ‘em out below.
